With the great depression in the past and the rationing put into place during World War II no longer necessary, times were changing in 1947, especially for toys. In 8,000 years of civilization, playing has never been such an in-grained part of life for people, adults and children. Life was so focused upon domestic work, agricultural work, and military endeavors, that adults and kids never had the time or the energy for play.

But, with the industrial revolution, people have more free time and wealth than any generation and history. And in an effort to find ways to fill that time, we’ve created many toys and games that are more imaginative than ever. Read the full story
