1956 Toys: Play-Doh, Yahtzee, Ant Farms

There weren’t too many too innovations in 1956, but a few time tested favorites were released this year, including the popular dice game Yahtzee. (Hundreds of millions of sets of Yahtzee have sold over the years.) Other favorites of the 1950s were still around, including toys that helped children with their imagination – from toy telephones to walkie talkies with limited ranges. Modern Toys

In 8,000 years of civilization, playing has never been such an in-grained part of life for people, adults and children.  Life was so focused upon domestic work, agricultural work, and military endeavors, that adults and kids never had the time or the energy for play.
